Barricade Heart

(Ari Wilde)

This song can be against any ideology that starts good but ends badly, but when I wrote it, it was against punk rock. Punk rock groups from the 70s claim that punk means freedom and doing what you like, while nowadays punk rockers are clones. It can be applied to other ideologies, really.

I reach for band-aids but my wounds are inside So I let them be Yesterday I was so drunk I talked to the voice in my head But forgot what it was telling me Once upon a time there was some sort of school That said the only rule was 'no rules' But you all became clones and you want me to be one Are you tyrants or are you fools? I believe in the no-rules rule so in the second verse This will be about love I know you think it's uncool to write a song From my barricade heart Once upon a time there was some sort of school That said the only rule was 'no rules' But you all became clones and you want me to be one Are you tyrants or are you fools? I believe in you, if I didn't believe in you There would be no truth How could a world without truth exist? And we're already fucked up the way that it is Once upon a time there was some sort of school That said the only rule was 'no rules' But you all became clones and you want XX XX XX XXX XXX XXX XXXXXXX XX XXX XXX XXXXXX XXX XX XXXXXXXXX XXXXX XXXXXX XXXX XX XXXXX XXX XX XXXX XXXX XXXX XX XXX XXXX XXX XXX XX XXXXXXX XXX XXX XXXX XX XXX XXXXXXXXXX XXXX XXX XXXX XX XXXXX XXX XX X XXX XXXX XX XXX XXXX XXXXX XXX XX XXXX XX XXX XX XXX XXXX XXXX X XXXX XXXXX XXX XXXX XXXX XX XXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXX XXXX XXXX XXX XXX XXXXXX XXX XXX XXX XXXXXX XXXXXX XXX XXX XXXX XX XX XX XXX XXX XXX XXXXXXX XX XXX XXX XXXXXX

Bite

You can make this song about someone who's hurt you, or someone you don't really like. In my case, it was about a person who looked so forward-thinking and righteous, until they betrayed one of my friends.

Floating

This song is about a feeling we all might have felt from time to time, but some of us feel it more often. As if you were an alien, and you didn't belong on the Earth amongst all the other people.

Everyone can relate to this tongue in cheek lyric. Personally, at the time I wrote it I was convinced the shit would never end.

A Taste of Country

By Melanie Thompson

Before I say a word or two about these lyrics, I would like to confess that I wrote them while I was hungry. Had I eaten a chicken salad sandwich, bag of chips and a sugar cookie before sitting down to write these lyrics, these lyrics may never have been written. I will also caution you to eat before reading them. Anyway, I was born in the country and raised by country folk. This song is a tip of my hat to all the country folk around the globe. Those folks who help feed the rest of us. And how blessed we are to have food. Oh Snap! I'm hungry again. Enjoy.
