She's Your Woman

(Brian Hendrix)

My newest. Wrote on 2/8/20. About men sheltering the storm with women and their emotions, though going with the flow of it all because, after all, we're just different but still good together. Petty arguments shouldn't derail love. We just have to hold on. Men, just remember that she's your woman. I really like this one. Really touches that country nerve.

Well, it's just like a woman to tell you That you've been doing it wrong She'll remember the time you didn't sing But won't mention none of your songs All the times your back was her ladder And you lifted her up to the clouds She'll dwell on the things that don't matter Like you're running her into the ground And you can't believe her... But you still need her... (Chorus) 'Cause on the darkest nights She's a shining sun And everything you lost The one thing you won Was her love Yeah, boy, it's her love For all the times she's cried For that grudge she holds She still remains your life The one thing you know That you love Yeah, boy, that you love They'll do what they do and be who they are But hold on... Because she's your woman And you still remember the time that she left you Ran out the door callin' you names You sat lost in a cloud of confusion And not sure how you got the blame But she came back to you with a sorry And you were happy to work it all out You promised that you would do better And worked hard to remove any doubt You're happy to see her... And you still need her... (Chorus) For all the things that she still remembers The more you start to forget You swear it wasn't on purpose That just makes her get more upset But you know how to move with this tango Realize it always takes two And just let her come through the emotion "Baby, you were right, and I love you" 'Cause when you see her... You know you need her... (Chorus)

Ol' No. 7 (Whiskey From Tennessee)

By Brian Hendrix

This is my baby. I post this reluctantly. Though nonetheless I'll post it. Long story short: I ran into an old buddy whose wife had left him years ago. He's still around, but a shell of himself and drunk. I woke up at 4a.m. one morning and jotted this down in notepad; it still gives me chills when I read it or sing it. It's a true country song. Though in the same vein as someone like Townes, take note of the verse-chorus hybrid structure, wherein the chorus starts via picking up tempo and vocalization after the second bar in each verse. It's about Jack Daniels, FYI.

I Still Need You Tonight

By Brian Hendrix

A duet I wrote. Might be hard to grasp via text, reading both parts, but I really like it. Of all the hundreds of songs I've written over the years, only a handful have given me chills when singing them aloud. This is one of them. It's one of those songs where after I wrote it, I had to go check online to make sure I didn't just plagiarize a hit song stuck in my head. Nope. It's all mine. Enjoy. Also note: "Him:" and "Her:" and "Both:" aren't part of the lyrics; they're just stamps to let you know which gender is singing which part.

World in Trouble

I was checking Netflix for those original Superman movies, Christopher Reeve, and only found Supergirl. I'm a country music writer. Even still, I challenged myself to write a song that could be used as a theme for a superhero show, movie, series, etc. Five minutes later, this is what I had come up with. I think it's a great song. It's really about a girl who thinks she needs to be the best at everything to be loved, but the truth is that life is indifferent to you. Even if you're a hero, they only care about the hero, not about you, and they'll forget your name when you're gone. But it's laced with superhero references so hopefully I can one day hear it on a Netflix show. Enjoy.

This song is about a woman who just started a happy life with her husband, when he was sent off to war and never came home. She's shattered and turn, but she learns to appreciate the beauty in the small things in life. No one ever heals from that sort of tragedy, but she learns to cope and figures out ways to still let the happiness in.

Was hier als harmloses, plattdeutsches Liebeslied beginnt, entpuppt sich zuletzt als ein Lied für unseren Herrn. - Aber es bleibt immer ein Liebeslied!

This song is about a marriage in which the wife is abusive. The husband had finally had enough and packed up the kids and got out of the toxic situation. Then the wife begs for them back. What happens next?... you’ll have to find that out yourself.

Welt in Flammen

By Nadine Schulze
