I read somewhere that love songs make up 90% of the music market. I have a hard time writing love songs. My lyrics are usually funny, stupid or dark. This song is an example of my limitations. My goal when I started writing these lyrics was to pen a love song and this is what came out.
This is a love song for someone you like and miss, this is a teasing song that is also playful and cute
I had a very active puppy I named Blurt. My brother asked me if he could have it. Because I had decided to join the military, I said OK. When I came home to visit my brother and Blurt, I was told the sad news that Blurt had ran away. I immediately went around the neighborhood looking for him. No luck. I've never told my brother this, but I have always suspected that he dumped Blurt. I was thinking about Blurt today and decided to write some lyrics in his honor. This is a poignant piece that conveys a sense of emotional turbulence and the transformative nature of life and love. The metaphorical references to the sun, moon, and planets create a vivid portrayal of the highs and lows of a relationship The comparison of the speaker's eyes to stars and then as dulled like a cloudy sky effectively communicates a shift in emotional state. The metaphor of finding true love and avoiding another hurtling asteroid suggests a commitment to seeking a healthier and more fulfilling connection.
The lyrics express the complexities of romantic choices and the emotions that come with them. The theme revolves around the challenges of deciding between two individuals and the confusion that ensues. The chorus emphasizes the recurring elements of choices, voices, and confusion in the situation. The emotional tone suggests a mix of desire, uncertainty, and perhaps a sense of loss.
