You Chose Me
This song of faith was originally meant to be a love song about being rescued from one’s self by another person. I guess in some ways it still is. You chose me is a love song to god, telling the story of how despite the doubts, and pain we go through, and all the bad decisions we make in life, he still chooses us. No matter how much work we need done.

Sadness
All day on my mind
I tell myself I’m fine
I should have been abandoned
But you stayed right by my side
Tell me what did you see
Why did you choose me
I’m just a broken piece
You can do better
The time spent fixing me
You could have fixed two or three
Battered
I’m covered in a thousand bruises
I’ve got nothing worth losing
So used to being used
And
I think I’m bad news
But I can’t tell how you feel
So many restless nights
Sometimes I doubt if you’re real
But if you are
Reach a little further
Take my hand and nurture
Show me what it’s like to heal
And I don’t really know what’s the best way to go
But I guess you never really know
Sometimes you just have to reap what you sow
Lead me like a shepherd
Guide me to the door
Sadness
All day on my mind
I tell myself I’m fine
I should have been abandoned
But you stayed right by my side
Empty
Drained of all emotion
Drowning in an ocean
You pulled me to the shore and
Told me it’s okay to breathe
For so long I’ve been staring through this window
Years stuck in crescendo
I’m at my lowest low
Staring at the highest height
But no longer do I need to fight
You promised you’ll be my peace and quiet
Tired
Even though my sails get weary
Blowing through the wind
I won’t jump ship again
It ain’t smooth sailing
But I’ll hand the helm to him
The fact that I’m still hear
You must have saved me time and again
Winning
I studied your love letter
You showed me I could do better
And now there’s better weather
