Savor

(Karianne Gabaldon)

This is about being a writer and loving what you do; savoring every moment, even though death is near. It starts out sad in the first verse, then moves up to content in the chorus.

(Verse 1) My heart was as blue as the thistle I sat on, Every damn day seemed like my last. I thought I knew love but I was just so dead wrong, All of my dread was dreading my past. (Chorus) Now that I’m a writer I’ll never give up on writing, Now that I’m a writer nothing seems worth all of the fighting. I’ve got my heart set on this pen and this paper, And this moment I’ll savor, This moment I’ll savor. (Verse 2) My luck finally changed when I published my first book, Within the snap of my finger, Now I’m flying high even though I still sink low, Successful, I’m not, but I’m still sure. (Chorus) Now that I’m a writer I’ll never give up on writing, Now that I’m a writer nothing seems worth all of the fighting. I’ve got my heart set on this pen and this paper, And this moment I’ll savor, This moment I’ll savor. (Bridge) And I’ve had it all up to here (Voices in my head), Telling me I should fear (Falling to my death), But now that my death is near (I’m going instead), And I’ll savor. The reaper that they have sewn (Coming after me), Making sure I’m alone (It’s not easy), But at least I XX XXXX XXXXXXXX XX X XXXXXXXX XXX XXXXXX XXXXXX XXXXXXXX XXX XXXX XXXXX X XXXXXX XXXXXX XXXXX XXXX XX XX XXXXXXXX XXX XXXX XXXXX X XXXXXX XXXXXXX XXXXX XXXXX XXX XX XXX XXXXXXXXX XXXXXX XXX XX XXXXX XXX XX XXXX XXX XXX XXXX XXXXXX XXX XXXX XXXXXX XXXXXX XXXXXX XXXX XXXXXX XXXXXX XXXXXX XXXXXXX XXX XXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXX XXXXXX XXXX XXXXX XXXXXX XXX XX XXXXX X XX XXXXX XXX XXXXXX XXXXXX X XXXX XX XX XXX XXX XXX XXXXX XXXXXXXXX XX XXXXXX XXXX XX XX XXXX XX XXXXXX XX XXXX XX XXXXX XXXXXXX X XXXXX XXXXXX XXXX XXXX X XXXXX XX XXXXXXXX

Summer Dream

By Isaac Wragg

This is a stab at the a classic summer song with an interpretive twist. I ignored the usual feel good and relational themes for one that hopefully leaves the listener guessing. What it meant to me while writing it will likely be completely different from what it means to you. However, the lyrics are simultaneously not super complex and allow for a celebratory, triumphant feeling to also shine through. Additionally, the rhyme scheme is intentionally a little odd to give the song a more memorable and unique sound.
