Fall Apart
Originally envisioned as being sung by a pop/punk/alt boy band, this is an angsty breakup song with non conventional rhythms.

CHORUS
She's said she's no good with relationships.
Said somehow in years past, she'd never made them last but
For me, she'd try her best.
I'd never imagined we'd fall apart so fast.
VERSE 1
Rewind.
It was freshman year.
College.
We were young and crazy.
Absorbing every social experience.
Education came secondary.
Mary.
I met her
In the hallway after class.
We'd bonded 'bout both wearing striped sweaters to astronomy
Cause somehow they'd reminded us of simpler things.
Like high school.
And home towns.
Where we'd never really fit in but still lived our lives out loud.
CHORUS
VERSE 2
Pause.
She was doting on me.
Bug eyed.
I didn't really get why.
But somehow she got me all tongue tied.
I' d started to feel my heart racing.
Next thing
I knew I
Had to make my move right then.
I said, "How would you like to join me for a drink tonight? Excuse me for being forward, but I know what I like."
She leaned in
And whispered
"I really might not stay long but I'll try to make things work."
CHORUS
VERSE 3
Fast forward.
It was 3am.
My house.
We'd stayed up all night talking.
Laughing on the phone until tears came out.
But something was wrong on her end.
She'd said
"Listen
I think I may have made a few mistakes.
And it's too late to take back all of the bad things I've done. And I know this will hurt you but I have to move on.
I've met a
New someone
And I really think it's fate--" I'd told her, "I really thought you'd stay."
She'd said she's no good with relationships.
Said even in years past, she'd never made them last but
For me, she'd tried her best.
I'd never imagined we'd fall apart so fast.
