Off Limits

(Rupert Webb)

I was deliberately ambiguous about why this love is off limits but it’s breaking the singer apart and they are about to risk everything. It could be a friend’s partner, or the boss’ daughter, or the boss, or a subordinate worker who’s off limits. Someone the singer has responsibility for and therefore should behave around.

Well you can look, but you’d better not touch Any kind of conversation’s probably too much I can’t stop coming here Your magnet pull outweighs my fear I think that you might understand Your eyes are asking who I am You must be as curious as Hell Why risk annihilation for something that isn’t ever going well I guess I shouldn’t stay But guard dogs and wild horses couldn’t keep my heart at bay They couldn’t tear me away I’m not supposed to notice the colours in your hair Or which wristband you’re wearing and when it isn’t there My secrets all encompassing Though every molecule within me wants XX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXX XXXX XX XXXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXX XXXXX XX XX XXXXX XX XXXX XXXXX XXXXXX XX XX XXXX XXXXX XXX XXXXX XXXXXX XXXXXXXXXX XXXX XX XXXX XXXXX XXXXXX XXX XX XXXX XXX XXXXX XXXX XXX XXXX XXXXX XXXXXXXXXX XXXX XX XXXXX XX XXX XXXX XXXXXXXXXX XXXX XX XXXX

No One Call The Feds

By Rupert Webb

The singer is a woman who is in an abusive relationship, but is determined that it’s her fault and that no-one should overreact as her man is a good guy deep down.

What I Know Now

By Rupert Webb

Exactly what it says in the title. This is a slightly humorous retrospective of the singer’s life. It picks on several random lessons learned before focussing on relationships and specifically in the last verse, a marriage. Would probably suit a three chord rock song or something more broken down in a Talking Heads/Vampire Weekend style.

Shadow

This song is about a man who has lost in love and lost everything. He might be a vagrant, or just searching for meaning on a long journey.

Landlord

By Rupert Webb

This song is about stress and mental illness, maybe schizophrenia. There is certainly paranoia and fear in the lyrics, but it is mixed with confusion and a list of bizarre happenings. The subject just wants some calm, but they are too busy rationalising their existence to their alter ego. The landlord in question might be another personality in the same mind, but it’s deliberately obscure. The Landlord could easily be changed to a she and refer to the subject as “girl”, not “son” for a female singer. The Queen could be lunching with almost anyone with a three syllable name. I wrote it as Clint Eastwood originally.

Crazy Beautiful

By Nick Duer

Another Angel song. She has long flowing hair, and drives a jeep alot of the time. She commented one day that her hair was crazy. I'm living a long way away, and I don't think it was jeep weather there. However I pictured her in the jeep hair blowing everywhere and shorts. A beautiful picture indeed. So my comment was crazy beautiful. I added that was a good song title. I was headed to a doctors appointment that day. So as I waited I wrote the first draft. Here is my final version.

Yearn Perpetual

By Elazar Benjamin

This work is about the inability to cease the yearning for a lost love. It entreats the absent lover to return and hopes that the separation is temporary.
