A song about living with schizophrenia.
What's in your garden? These lyrics name seven types of flowers. All seven can be found in nature. If you are an admirer of nature, you may recognize some of these names. I thought it would be interesting to give these flowers agendas. I tried to match each flower's name with a hot-topic social issue.
This song is about keeping it secret that there was a spark of love in the air, even though he was in a relationship that time. That secret is just representative for a couple of secrets that are symbolically hiding under the narrator’s hair. I was seeing the narrator from a woman’s perspective. The atmosphere can be mystical, intimate, energetic, souly, warm. I was pretty much inspired by Jorja Smith while writing it. So genrewise I would see it in an indipop, alternative soul direction. The structure is a really easy pop structure, which could be extended by repeating the first verse and the chorus or just the chorus multiple times. Enjoy the process!
I will be the first to say that I'm not the brightest bulb in the ceiling. But I have learned that hate corrodes. It harms others as well as myself. As I get older, it gets clearer. We need more love in this world. I hope these lyrics show that our ability to empathize and accept others is more valuable than any educational trophies we may have collected throughout our lives.
These lyrics highlight the overnight success of a down-on-his-luck good old country boy who is barely getting by and is pretty much homeless. Until the breakthrough of someone hearing his music and changing his life. He has held on to hope, with no parents and distant cousins and the loyalty of his big dog Cody.
