There are times one has to choose between duty and the heart. Sometimes, one is caught between a rock and a hard place. Love can be both heaven and hell as one faces the hard choice to let go because love does not hold back.

A song about fighting your voices and living by force from them. You want to die, but the voices get in your way and so you live for them. Living inside your head is a scary thing, especially when you’re controlled by voices.

Mein erstes Lied von 1979, geschrieben im Alter von 11 Jahren für einen Wettbewerb zum besten Wecklied auf einem Skikurs, belegte den ersten Platz und wurde dann eine Woche lang immer morgens gesungen und bringt auch gute Laune in der Früh. Die dritte Strophe wurde 2022 ergänzt :-)

The song is a poetic expression of love for someone the persona thinks is the most special person to them. In Verse 1 he refers to her as "a woman like no other" (line 2) and in Verse 2 as "a woman who is more than gold" (line 2). She is a woman who has embraced him the way he is, with all his flaws and he terms her "a place where my demons are overcome" (Verse 1 line 2), and "a place where my failures are overthrown (Verse 2 line 2). She is a shoulder to lean on and is presently available during tough times as captured in the Bridge. The Chorus employs the use of Biblical allusion by referencing the story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego and how they were supernaturally delivered from the fiery furnace by an angel of God. She apparently has an infectious smile that calms nerves with an unusual ease (Chorus line 2). The last two lines of the Chorus express the persona's commitment to abide by her until death does them apart in keeping with the vows the two had earlier taken during their wedding.

This song explores the confidence, strength and security that can come from the Love of a parent. It can mean so much, and can help in our confidence and ability to find our way in an ever more complicated world.
