Belladonna
A story about a forlorn lover who because of his ardor is unable to see his intended for what she is, murderous and self-involved. The intricate lyrics might fit best in music with an English folk flare, such as that of Pentangle or Richard Thompson.

Your beauty framed but not disguised
As first we met in mourning gowned
Your mouth still perfect in dejection
Your tears as jewels from a crown
A tale I read from your despair
Of sacrifice, abandonment,
And from your beauty I construed
A widow's need for heart's content
Chorus:
Belladonna, lovely lady,
Take the chalice from my lips
Fire blooms like hatred's passion
As through my failing arms you slip
And in my tale we loved in grace
With children fair in castle grand,
The harvest always filled the crib
And winter lightly touched the land
So when you smiled I saw it real
Your smile the promise come to be
And so my heart I gave complete
And yours, I thought, was give to me
Chorus
But now the candles all are gutted,
The darkness gathers close outside.
As cold grow eyes that once held fire
The face of sweetness now belied.
For now I see your closet holds
Black gown, black gloves, black boot, black hat
And understand that death becomes you
With grief your natural habitat
Chorus
Unseen I watch you tend the bushes,
Watch you pick the berries red;
Like praying over loved' infants,
With tenderness pulled from their bed.
No thought within your eyes resides
As you crush the juices free,
And no malice stains your lips
As you present the glass to me.
So for my willing misperception
And for the loss I can't endure,
I toast you into your bereavement
And join the fools to you inure.
Chorus
