King of the White House

(Dawn Isbell Wilson)

This is just a silly song I felt like writing during these insane times when we, in the United States, are tottering between a wanna be monarch and complete economic collapse. I originally wrote this with the opening number in The Man of La Mancha in my head. Ultimately, these lyrics work well with a satirical, dark cabaret beat.

Verse Listen up All you fools who voted for me I’m as dumb and corrupt as can be I sit on a throne with a crown on my head As I kick you with unabashed glee Chorus I’m your king, I am Donald The Lord of the White House It’s mine and I’m knocking it down It was my daddy’s fortune That carried me onward Through chaos and bluster profound Through chaos and bluster profound Now all the people bow down! Bridge Listen up All you lefties and righties And all of you fools in-between I loathe every one of you, hope you drop dead As I sit on my throne with a crown on my head I will sleep through the meetings, and golf on your dime Destroying the country, committing XXXX XXXXX XX XXXXX XXXX XX XXXXXXXX XX XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXX XXXXXX X XXXX XXXX XXX XXX XXXX XXXXXX XXXXX XXXX XXXXX X XX XXXXXX XXX XXXX XX XXX XXXXX XXXXX XXXXXX XXXX XXX XXXXX XXXXXXXX XX XXXX XX XXX XX XXXXXXXXX XXXXXXX XXXX XXXXXXX XX XXXXXX XXXXXXX XXXXX XXX XXXXXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXXXX XXXXX XXX XXXXXXX XXXXXXXX XXX XXX XXX XXXXXX XXX XXXXX

A Vow of Blood and Bone

By Dawn Isbell Wilson

This song is loosely based on the poem Christabel by Samuel Taylor Coleridge. I had so much fun writing "She Walks the Graveyard" that I decided to create one with an even more Gothic theme. I found an old poem which I had, at first, intended to update for modern times but the more I thought about it, the less I wanted to keep the story, let alone modernize it. I love the Gothic theme of the poem, rich with moonlit woods, spectral presences, and ambiguous evil. However, as I started writing it, the more I wanted to twist the tale into something completely different. I hope you enjoy reading these lyrics when we enter into the season of pumpkins, bats, ghosts, and hobgoblins, or just whenever the mood strikes.

Keepers of the Flame

By Dawn Isbell Wilson

This uplifting anthem celebrates the power of community and the enduring spark of hope. Through vivid imagery of rivers, forests, cities, and skies, the lyrics weave together a journey from darkness into light. The refrain, “We are the keepers of the flame”, becomes a rallying cry for unity, resilience, and shared purpose. Whether sung in a sanctuary, on a stage, or around a campfire, the song invites listeners to stand together, carry hope forward, and let their light shine for all to see.

tired of pain

By Laura Spendlingwimmer

I wrote this song after I broke up with my ex boyfriend - I was trying so hard on this relationship and I really wanted it to work but somehow I was the only one who was fighting - after the breakup I was so down and sad and heartbroken because I just wanted a love that lasts and that is real and this is what the song is about - I doubted myself being enough

Exit Interview with God

By Dawn Wilson

It has always disturbed me how some parents, children, or friends can calmly accept an idea that their loved ones might burn for an ETERNITY while they walk the streets of gold, playing harps, or whatever. It’s sad that so many millions of people cling to the cruellest, most horrendous god belief because they are afraid of hell. You have to be some kind of monster, yourself, to truly worship a god that would have created eternal torment for finite crimes. Especially, the crime of disbelief. If I actually believed for one moment that…wait, I honestly did believe it. For three years, from the age of 12 to 15, I was tormented by the idea of my family being tortured forever and ever. Their only crime? Disbelief. I was willing to suffer that same fate because the idea of a heaven without them was unthinkable to me. When I left the church, I fully believed I would go to hell and I didn’t care because I was done worshipping a monster.
