THE GATE KEEPERS

(Matt Duffie)

I wrote this after listening to "Warp Riders" by The Sword (American Doom Metal band) and wondered how much fun it would be to write a concept album. This is part of a theoretical concept album about space-faring people seeking The Chosen One. Though, it could just as easily be a trippy sci-fi track.

Did you speak to the man with the hourglass? Did he give you permission to pass? Did you speak to the last of the martyrs; That sacrifices the last of daughters? Did you speak to the man with the hourglass? Did you speak to the man without a face? The one that believes he owns all of Space Did you see the small lines in his old flesh? Every wrinkle is a lie that has been said Did you speak to the man without a face? Eons have passed and none have come The trials had nearly been forgotten Eons can pass – much still to be done To ready the Chosen One Did you speak to the one with the crystal eyes? To the one that can see when we all shall die Did you tell her the words of your mother? Did you tell her the plan of forever? Did you speak to the one with the crystal eyes? Eons have passed and here you stand With soul emboldened and sword in hand Eons can pass and you must reclaim Your place on the throne of time and space
