Oh, Molly

(Brian Hendrix)

This is one of those ones that only a songwriter will get. Lying in bed, the same music playing in my head over and over, "Have I heard this before?" Nope. Okay. Let me try to add lyrics to it. This is what I came up with. The words are self explanatory. The chorus of the song is the last four lines of each verse.

Oh, Molly, baby I think you might have hurt me just a tad Yes, you have Molly, baby Why're you sat there looking so damn sad Ain't you glad That you've hurt the man who scorned you Made sure he got his due Oh, Molly, baby I wish that I were you Oh, Molly, baby I haven't heard a single word you said But instead Molly, baby The words can't pierce the noise inside my head Eyes are red From the coming of the rain storm Brought on by your cold heart Oh, Molly, baby My world is torn apart Oh, Molly, baby You were soft as sendal once upon a time You were kind Molly, baby And now your look just makes me lose my mind I can't find A single thing to tell you To make XXX XXXX XXXXXX XXX XXXXXX XXXX XXX XXXXXX XX XXXXXX XXXX XXX XXXXXX XXXX XXX XXXXXXXX XXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XX XXX XXX XXXXX XXXXXXX XXXXXX XXXX XXXX XX XXX XXX XX XX XX XXX XXXXX XX XXXXX XXXX XXX X XXXXX XX XXX XXX XX XXXX XXX XXXXXX XXX XXXX XXXX XX XXXXX XXXX XXX XXXXXX XXXX XX XX XXX XX XXXX XXXX XXX XX

She's Your Woman

By Brian Hendrix

My newest. Wrote on 2/8/20. About men sheltering the storm with women and their emotions, though going with the flow of it all because, after all, we're just different but still good together. Petty arguments shouldn't derail love. We just have to hold on. Men, just remember that she's your woman. I really like this one. Really touches that country nerve.

Ol' No. 7 (Whiskey From Tennessee)

By Brian Hendrix

This is my baby. I post this reluctantly. Though nonetheless I'll post it. Long story short: I ran into an old buddy whose wife had left him years ago. He's still around, but a shell of himself and drunk. I woke up at 4a.m. one morning and jotted this down in notepad; it still gives me chills when I read it or sing it. It's a true country song. Though in the same vein as someone like Townes, take note of the verse-chorus hybrid structure, wherein the chorus starts via picking up tempo and vocalization after the second bar in each verse. It's about Jack Daniels, FYI.

I Still Need You Tonight

By Brian Hendrix

A duet I wrote. Might be hard to grasp via text, reading both parts, but I really like it. Of all the hundreds of songs I've written over the years, only a handful have given me chills when singing them aloud. This is one of them. It's one of those songs where after I wrote it, I had to go check online to make sure I didn't just plagiarize a hit song stuck in my head. Nope. It's all mine. Enjoy. Also note: "Him:" and "Her:" and "Both:" aren't part of the lyrics; they're just stamps to let you know which gender is singing which part.

World in Trouble

By Brian Hendrix

I was checking Netflix for those original Superman movies, Christopher Reeve, and only found Supergirl. I'm a country music writer. Even still, I challenged myself to write a song that could be used as a theme for a superhero show, movie, series, etc. Five minutes later, this is what I had come up with. I think it's a great song. It's really about a girl who thinks she needs to be the best at everything to be loved, but the truth is that life is indifferent to you. Even if you're a hero, they only care about the hero, not about you, and they'll forget your name when you're gone. But it's laced with superhero references so hopefully I can one day hear it on a Netflix show. Enjoy.

Mien Een un All

By Georg Wagner (GeWa)

Was hier als harmloses, plattdeutsches Liebeslied beginnt, entpuppt sich zuletzt als ein Lied für unseren Herrn. - Aber es bleibt immer ein Liebeslied!

Power Outage

By Karianne Gabaldon

This song is about a marriage in which the wife is abusive. The husband had finally had enough and packed up the kids and got out of the toxic situation. Then the wife begs for them back. What happens next?... you’ll have to find that out yourself.
