Hey, diddle, diddle, the cat and the fiddle,
The cow jumped over the moon,
The baby’s awake with a bellyache,
And the morning is coming too soon, too soon
And the morning is coming too soon.
Oh, fiddle, faddle, I’m tired of this battle,
I’m weary, exhausted, half-dead;
We rock and we sing, we’ve tried everything,
But we can’t seem to get him to bed!
We can’t seem to get him to bed, No!
We just can’t seem to get him to bed!
It’s the same every night,
We just can’t get it right,
And we can’t seem to get him to bed!
Hey, tiddle, toddle, we croon and we coddle,
We sleepwalk all night, bleary eyed,
She dozes in arms, it works like a charm!
But when we put her down, she just cries, and cries,
When we put her down, she just cries!
Oh, kibble, kobble, I weave and I wobble,
It seems that it’s my turn again,
My warm covers mock, but it’s three o’clock,
And now she’s had the baby since ten.
And we can’t seem to get her to bed, No!
We just can’t seem to get her to bed!
It’s the same every night,
We just can’t get it right,
And we can’t seem to get her to bed.
Oh, daddle, doodle, the kit and kaboodle,
The baby, the blanket, and all,
Lands up in the bed
Right between our heads
‘Cause I just can’t keep walking the hall.
No, I just can’t keep walking the hall!
Hey, taddle tuddle, we’re tired and befuddled
Our sleep-deprived minds are half-blown,
We couldn’t have guessed that we’d never rest
Until they’re off to college and grown
But we can’t seem to get them to bed, No!
We just can’t seem to get them to bed!
It’s the same every night,
We just can’t get it right,
And we can’t seem to get them to bed.
