Empty Bottle Blues
This is a blues song in the truest sense of the world, in terms of rhythm and cadence and melody. I just tried to put my own spin on the sort of blues song that you might hear in the 1950s.

I started drinking Friday morning
Back in nineteen-ninety-two
Yeah, and I'm still drinkin' in the morning
Though I've aged a day or few
Some old lady said it's twenty-twenty-one
I said, oh, man, ain't that the news
Don't throw stones in glass houses
That's what all the people say
'Cause glass is sorta fragile, Lord
And you wouldn't want it to break
That's bad news for me and all my habits
'Cause glass is how my house was made
I got the empty bottle blues
Lord, I done drank every drop
I got 'em all turned upside-down
Praying something still comes out
Everything in the house might smell like whiskey
But it's dry as a drought
She said "You drink like a fish
And, babe, you're blue around the gills"
Yeah, she said "Might wanna slow down
Babe, you're really looking ill"
I said that medicine used to cure me, baby
Did back then and it might still
These empty bottle blues
One thing I never thought I'd have
'Cause whiskey ain't expensive, Lord
Hell, I even know how to make a batch
But I ain't got no money for supplies I need
Oh, Lord, I think I drink too fast
