Every Time I Sit and Write A Song
A song written about a songwriter who finds that every single song they end up writing, it really just brings up a ton of negative emotions and life experiences. The idea is that these things become the song, and then those feelings go away, but they still come back every time he sits to write a song.

I think of the time she didn't want me
How she said she never loved me
Despite the fact I had given her my all
And that time she found another
All these bad feelings come uncovered
Every time I sit and write a song
I see the brightness of my youth
And how it's now gray instead of blue
Years passed by, the ink is dry and drawn
I'm lucky if I can even sleep
But I recall I once had dreams
Every time I sit and write a song
(Chorus)
It ain't for the faint of heart
It ain't for narrow shoulders
There's a lot of stuff to carry
And just piles up as you get older
And folks who can't understand
Say what don't kill you makes you strong
I take a drink for them
Every time I sit and write a song
I feel the cracks in this old heart
How it's all covered in scars
I crawl inside my head and I stay gone
I start to pine for better times
Being free and clear of mind
Every time I sit and write a song
(Chorus)
