Natural Women

(Dawn Isbell Wilson)

In 2025, I began noticing how certain actresses appeared startlingly smooth-skinned. Of course, Botox and facelifts are nothing new—we’ve seen them for decades. But the sheer volume today is having a disturbing effect on society. Young women are scrutinized at unimaginable levels, spending hundreds of dollars to erase smile lines that reappear within a day, often looking worse than before. They stand before mirrors comparing themselves not to real faces, but to AI-sculpted ideals and social media’s definition of “perfect”: flawless symmetry, flawless smoothness. The result is a strange sameness, drifting into the uncanny valley. Some of Hollywood’s most beautiful women have become nearly unrecognizable, stripped of the subtle expressions that once made them compelling actors. That’s why I feel such gratitude for Kate Winslet, Jodie Foster, Meryl Streep, Candice Bergen, and so many others who are aging with grace—showing us the beauty of growing old naturally.

Verse I never spent my mornings Covering my face A splash of water A little blush A smear of Chapstick That was enough Chorus Natural used to mean something It meant a carefree life Free from makeup Free from shame Women didn’t look the same Verse Of course I felt the pressure To look like a star Hide those freckles! Dye that hair! Tight clothes are in You just don’t compare Chorus Now natural means needles And fillers from a box Botox, stitches Tucks and lifts Pretending they are nature’s gifts Verse I learned it from my mother Beauty’s more than skin A truer image rises When love looks back again You see yourself reflected In someone else’s eyes Bridge I’ve watched my mother over time Makeup, mirrors, eyes underlined Giving way to things more fun She ditched the heels For hiking boots And chased more meaningful pursuits Chorus Faces that are older Can show a life well lived Lines of laughter Eyes that shine Faces that say beauty is mine Outro Growing older is a blessing Why can’t we see that truth A face that tells a story That’s missing in our youth I don’t want a frozen smile A forehead I can’t move I’d rather show the wrinkles I don’t need you to approve

We're Working Hard For You

By Dawn Isbell Wilson

Working Hard for You is a satirical rock anthem that channels the spirit of 60’s/70’s protest music while skewering modern political hypocrisy. With biting verses that trace corruption from past scandals to present power, the song builds toward a sarcastic, chant like chorus where Congress brags about how they are working hard for us while doing nothing but lining their pockets.

My Generation

By Dawn Isbell Wilson

This song is a generational anthem that traces the lives of Boomers through Gen Alpha, weaving together cultural milestones, scars, and resilience. Each verse captures the defining experiences of a generation—from civil rights marches and the fall of the Berlin Wall to 9/11, climate change, Covid, and digital saturation. The chorus binds them as chapters in a single book, while the Outro reflects on the burdens we inherit and the stories we pass down. It’s both a tribute and a reckoning, showing how every age carries its own scars yet remains part of one timeless tale.

Life's a Dark Comedy

By Dawn Isbell Wilson

These lyrics were inspired by my husband who, one morning a few months ago, said, “You should write a song about how life is a dark comedy.” He had suggested a few ideas before, but this one really struck me as different and interesting. So, I decided to take up the challenge. The lyrics weave together absurd theater and bittersweet humor, painting life as both performance and parody. Empty rooms, forgotten lines, and ironic applause capture the tension between tragedy and laughter, reminding us that even our flaws can become part of the show. At its heart, the song invites listeners to see themselves as players in the same comedy—sometimes stumbling, sometimes shining, but always part of the ensemble. It’s both a wink and a sigh, a reminder that the joke belongs to all of us. This song makes strong references to Shakespeare's Play "As You Like It", taking from a most memorable and often quoted soliloquy "The Seven Ages of Man" aka "All the World's a Stage".

Take Everything I've Got But Don’t Go

By Stavroula Mitsea

This song dives into the kind of love that feels like walking on broken glass—where you’re terrified of losing someone, so you start shrinking yourself just to keep them close. It captures the late-night overthinking, the self-blame, the desperation to hold on. It’s raw, vulnerable, and brutally honest, the kind of song people cling to when they’re trying to love someone who keeps slipping away.
