The Big Lie

(Edward McBride)

This song is about the ex-President of the United States of America unbelievably claiming that he was cheated out of being returned as the President and that the election was rigged, therefore creating the big lie. His supporters continue to believe that the election was stolen from them, notwithstanding, that it has been proven false in the courts.

I'm living the lie the dirty big lie It was all just for fun Isn't that right son I lost to the left I wasn't so deft I accused all of cheating I'm desperate and bleating Chorus To go down to defeat They are still at my feet Kneel down kiss the ring That's just my big thing The Donald is out But I can still shout Old Joe's lying low He hammered me I know The money keeps coming You know I'm not slumming The fools and their money keep me and my honey I lie with the best to hell with the rest Mel sleeps alone While I'm on the phone Chorus To go down to defeat they are still at my feet Kneel down kiss the ring That's just my big thing The Donald is out But I can still shout Old Joe's lying low He hammered me I know It's just a big game You know I've no shame The laws closing in It's Rudi I bin The Capitol shame I'm not to blame The rednecks are wild Insurrection not mild Chorus To go down to defeat They are still at my feet Kneel down kiss the ring That's just my big thing The Donald is out But I can still shout Old Joe's lying low He hammered me I know

The Abyss

By Edward McBride

This song is about a guy whose wife suddenly dies; they had no kids. He starts to drink excessively and spirals downwards, losing his home. He has no other family near him, and he hits the bottom --the abyss. He finds the inner strength to change as he knows it is a long road back. He has the shakes; he sees the demons and screams out because he thinks that they are coming to get him. After a long haul he has climbed the abyss.

The hunt

By Edward McBride

This song is a complicated mess. A woman is cheated on by her husband and best friend. She is suspicious and hires a private investigator who confirms her worst fears. The mentality of males from cavemen to present day is to go on the hunt for a woman or as many as he can have sex with. Her best friend who no longer has that status becomes a willing participant in taking away her husband. After hitting a low point and having faith that not all men are the same, she starts to date again.

Where You Could Love Me

By Bogi Taylor

This is one of my first lyrics, and also a contest winner! We all know the feeling when we're terribly in love with someone, and we finally have the courage to tell this to the person, but it turns out that our desired one doesn't feel the same way. It is a real heartbreaker moment. This lyric captures that feeling, when we just wish that there was a place "where you could love me".
