Getting out of the rain
I stepped into a bar
saw a guy twangin the strings
on his old acoustic guitar
sat in the corner
twangin away
people did listen
while the old guy did play
he knocked out those tunes
with the ease of a pro
the audience applauded
at the end of his show
wouldn't it be grand
if at the end of the day
we could all knock out tunes
in that same old way
he'd put in the hours
honed his great skill
practised a lifetime
to give us a thrill
I stood by the bar
still wet from the rain
telling myself
that I'd come here again
he knocked out those tunes
with the ease of a pro
the audience applauded
at the end of his show
