She Walks the Graveyard

(Dawn Isbell Wilson)

I wanted to write a song for the season of ghosts and graveyards. Something that felt familiar but with a slightly fresh take. I started in the hope of capturing the essence of a great ghost story in song the way Alfred Noyes captured it in poetry with his haunting classic, "The Highwayman". In my mind, I conjured up a Victorian era graveyard: A full moon, weathered, moss-covered stones, winding paths guarded by gargoyles and broken walls I called forth the spirits of Halloween and placed within that setting a ghost and a grieving figure, searching night after night for their lost love. But who is the ghost and who was left behind?

Verse The full moon spread a ghostly shroud Across the graves as shadows bowed The saddest night in memory told It chilled the hearts both meek and bold Chorus I chased her through the moon lit path Through broken gates and demons’ wrath I cried in pain but could not retrieve The love I’d lost and would always grieve Verse She was there among the stones A veil of frost a voice of moans Some who saw her turned in fright She walked the graveyard every night Chorus I chased her through the moon lit path Through broken gates and demons’ wrath When she turned, my courage fled She seemed so lost so full of dread Verse I watched her stand upon the mound A pile of grassy, plotted ground It felt familiar I’d seen this before Chasing her ghost like an ancient lore Bridge When the full moon spreads a ghostly shroud Across the graves as shadows bowed And once again I saw my name Engraved in stone ever the same She was no ghost, but grief made her pale I was the one beyond the veil Outro When the moon is full she walks alone She feels me in the moss and stone I call to her, but now I see The ghost I chase is chasing me

This uplifting anthem celebrates the power of community and the enduring spark of hope. Through vivid imagery of rivers, forests, cities, and skies, the lyrics weave together a journey from darkness into light. Before the Frost

By Dawn Isbell Wilson

This is the November song I meant to write one day when my brain had other plans, and I wrote “In Autumn’s Glow” for my husband. I love all the seasons. When pressed, I have to say Autumn. As a child, I always had a love-hate relationship with Winter because it meant the end of my favorite season and living in the Pacific Northwest, it mostly rained. It rained a lot. And when it wasn’t raining, it was gray. Dark, dark gray. Snow was scarce, but when we got snow, I suddenly loved Winter most of all. But this is a song about Autumn. It reminds me of the smells and sounds of the fall leaves as they crunched under my sneakers

On a Winter Solstice

This song honors the hush and depth of the longest night. The Winter Solstice marks a turning point—a time to gather close, light candles against the dark, and listen for ancestral whispers beneath the snow. It’s a ritual of endurance and quiet hope, a celebration of the light’s slow return.

Exit Interview with God

By Dawn Isbell Wilson

It has always disturbed me how some parents, children, or friends can calmly accept an idea that their loved ones might burn for an ETERNITY while they walk the streets of gold, playing harps, or whatever. It’s sad that so many millions of people cling to the cruellest, most horrendous god belief because they are afraid of hell. You have to be some kind of monster, yourself, to truly worship a god that would have created eternal torment for finite crimes. Especially, the crime of disbelief. If I actually believed for one moment that…wait, I honestly did believe it. For three years, from the age of 12 to 15, I was tormented by the idea of my family being tortured forever and ever. Their only crime? Disbelief. I was willing to suffer that same fate because the idea of a heaven without them was unthinkable to me. When I left the church, I fully believed I would go to hell and I didn’t care because I was done worshipping a monster.

3-6-5

By Laura Spendlingwimmer

this song is about introverts who try to show their love with actions and reactions instead of words - I wrote this because I am an introvert and it is so hard for me to talk about my feelings I show them with my body. Something like I am just too shy and nervous around the person I'm in love with - this song is meaningful and describes the feeling of trying to show somebody the signs you try to give them
