These lyrics were lots of fun to write. When I was younger, the night was magical and mystical. I could wait for the sun to go down so we could play and party. Of course, that was when I was still in school and had no responsibilities. These lyrics are about the fun of the night.

We were born after midnight
Before the first bright rays of light,
We were born to lurk in shadows
And where the moonlight softly glows,
We live in shades of black – not white, 
We are minions of the night.

Lights on a black canvas shine
While we pop the corks and dine,
Then we'll dance beneath the stars
Where the magic of the night is ours
Or we'll climb up on empty stools
Where tequila, rum and whiskey rule.

We are the minions of the night,
That is when our wings take flight.
The world is an alluring place
When the darkness is embraced.

People plod away by day
While they sweat and pray
And try to hold onto a dream
They think their hard work will redeem.
The realities of life are stark
For those of us who crave the dark.

As the sun sinks away
Then it is the time to play.
When “last call” is shouted out
We take the party someplace else.

That our partying is done.
