The beat went on
A song about a night on the town, meeting a girl and waking up feeling rough the next morning. Then remembering that you planned to meet her again but your memory is hazy.

The beat goes on long into the night,
People are drunk and start to fight,
Let’s head home we’ve had enough for tonight,
My head hits the pillow and I’m out like a light.
I wake up in the morning and I feel tired and weak,
All that drink and getting down to the beat,
I don’t feel like I’ve had any sleep,
In fact, I feel like I could sleep for a week
The beat went on long into the night,
We headed home when people started to fight,
I think back and it was a great night,
Cos, I met you and now I’m feeling alright.
Then I remember that we’re meeting again,
The only trouble is there’s a fog in my brain,
I can’t think when or where we planned to meet,
I know we planned something when we were dancing to the beat.
Cos the beat went on long into the night,
We left the club when people started to fight,
Now it’s a blur what happened that night,
But I know I met you and now I’m feeling alright.
Then I see a note on my bedside drawers,
I get excited cos it’s from you and the writing is yours,
It says meet me at seven by the fountain,
I feel good like a man that has just conquered a mountain.
Cos the beat went on long into the night,
I remember your smell and your green eyes so bright,
Your hair was sleek and shiny and your dress was so tight,
I get out of bed and I’m feeling so right.
