Nick Duer

Nick Duer is a lover of music as the expression of life. The good, the bad, the painful, and beautiful thing that is life. Love, heartache, success, and failure all have a place in his life and lyrics. Raised in a family that loved music he found himself with no natural talent. Then he became acquainted with the English language, and the words became as important as the music. For a time he forgot his love of both, and let things like money, career, women, drugs interfere with his first love. The love of music, and the love of capturing the beauty, both joyful, and painful of life in words. Now it is his sole reason for continuing to wake up each morning to a world he questions, and sometimes despises.

A song describing the ups and downs of life. Also the ups and downs of love. Both capturing the truth that you must give to receive. Often giving comes with no guarantee, save the promise if you don't give then you will never receive.
This is my first country song, it's based on a fools life, and that fool is me. I went 9 years clean, and during that time a good 6 years without even kissing a girl. You have to relearn some things. I had been the drunken crazy guy. The girls went out with me to show their wildness, or upset their parents, or current or ex-spouse. Once I got a taste again I was off and running. Let a bunch of fine, honest, loving ones slip through my fingers. Maybe cause my fingers were busy texting the next victim or grabbing her behind. Now older, alone, I have some regrets. But I wouldn't trade a one of them. Cause I do love the women.
Another song for the Angel on 9th Street. As I call her. She is truly beautiful, most of all her eyes. At the time I was struggling with life in general. It sometimes took as little as a thought of her eyes to give me courage, or motivation to keep trying.
The ultimate love song, for the biggest love the writer has ever felt. He is a lover of love, and a lover of song. The woman never returned the feeling. But the feeling itself is return enough. A playlist named Songs For My Angel, contains most of these songs. Any song he has written since meeting her has a little inspiration from his Angel.
This is a song to my inspiration for the better part of 2 years. I call her the Angel on 9th Street. She was very kind and patient to a guy that didn't know how to handle his feelings. She taught me patience, she taught me to love with or without it being returned.
