VERSE 1
There’s a secret that I’ve never been told
Since I was young and more bold:
It’s okay to be who you are.
Now growing older, I’ve begun to despise
The ways that I run and hide
From my desires.
I wonder where along the line it became
Easier
To compromise.
Who knows why?
PRE-CHORUS
I don’t want to, but I know
It feels so much more comfortable to
Take that road most traveled by.
CHORUS
What makes us all run scared?
Could it be we believe we’ll fail?
We’ll fall down.
And we won’t know how to get back up.
Well, if we take risks to test our limits,
We may get hurt and we may get scarred.
But if we try, they can’t deny,
At least we won’t be hiding
Who we really are.
VERSE 2
Here’s something else they tell us when we’re young.
They say, Listen, you can be anything you want.
Now growing older, others come to despise
Our dreams and trivialize them as schemes.
They build brick walls and harbor animosities.
We start hiding.
Who knows why?
PRE-CHORUS
CHORUS
Well, there’s a secret that I’ve never been told
Since I was young and more bold:
It’s okay to be
