Love - Chapter 2 - My College Days
This is the second chapter (of five) trying to capture the various phases in the love life of a woman. It tries to describe her life in college, where the memory of her first love has become distant, and she’s lost in enjoying the frivolities of youth. How towards the end, all the flings lose their charm and the memory of her unfulfilled love comes back to the fore.

The future seemed so bright with him
My heart and mind had no clue
with him fun was the only view
Seen with the blinders called youth and a little brew.
We didn't see beyond the bend
Little did we care for, hoping
Life would show us the way and
All problems off we could fend.
The wings of the young butterfly
Takes her to every flower colourful and bright
The thorns she doesn't see
Only in the sweet does she find delight.
The seasons changed and the grasp grew weak
As the years marched forth
Less is what I wanted more
And a way out of promises made did I seek.
Harm or hurt I did not want
For wounds to the heart can forever haunt
But you too had warmed up to despair
And your heart didn't anymore care if I wasn't there.
As the tasseled caps flew and college came to a close
my beau became a memory far in repose
with a smile and a hug to him did I say goodbye
But my thoughts raced back to you, my first love and yes my heart did sigh.
The wings of the young butterfly
Takes her to every flower colourful and bright
The thorns she doesn't see
Only in the sweet does she find delight.
