He's Just Like Me

(Brian Hendrix)

This would be considered more or less a "power ballad" in the country genre, with the 'He's just like me" part really sang and emphasized. Basically a story about men who have regrets after losing their women and how they should have done better and more to keep them.

Met a down down in Colorado Selling paintings of the sea In a valley of the Rocky Mountains Said he's seen it in a dream Said the waves they pick him up And feels like he's going home But he wakes sweatin' and shakin' Knowing that's not where he belongs (Chorus) He's just like me Out here doing his best to keep on breathing Just like me Can't remember the good times and only sees her leaving Just like me Loved a woman once, but maybe enough And maybe that's why she left us Yeah, I'm sure that's why she left us A shame it takes a lifetime for a fool like that to see But we notice it in each other, when we say He's just like me Saw a reflection of a stranger The hard years were his disguise Couldn't make out those old features But I recognized those eyes But he wouldn't look back at me He just hung his head in shame Well, I couldn't blame the stranger Find myself doing the same (Chorus)

Walk-Away Joe

By Brian Hendrix

This is more in the old-timey vein of classic country, about a guy who decided one day to start walking. And he's never stopped. He's picked up the nickname "walk-away Joe." Just a fun little song.

Empty Bottle Blues

By Brian Hendrix

This is a blues song in the truest sense of the world, in terms of rhythm and cadence and melody. I just tried to put my own spin on the sort of blues song that you might hear in the 1950s.

I'm In Therapy

By Brian Hendrix

A song about a guy who drinks his problems away, like a lot of people. It's suggested to him that he go to therapy, and he knows a lot of people in therapy. From his perspective, however, he is in therapy, and he's doing just fine. Just a fun drinking song.

Your Blue Eyes Don't See Me

By Brian Hendrix

A folk song I wrote about a pretty girl who a man views as smart and perceptive, and he really cares for her. He believes that she sees the world in a unique way, but he's upset and confused that she doesn't see how much he cares about her and how good he is for her. In terms of writing, I really love how poetic this came out.

Mick Jagger

By Ari Wilde

This song is about dissing somebody who thinks he's cool but he's not. Could be directed at another musician or simply at an old friend. You can even make it funny and make it about yourself -- it was definitely one of the things I had in mind when I wrote it.

Emotions Are A Bonfire

By Karianne Gabaldon

This is about a whirlwind of emotional battle going on inside your mind. Uncontrolled screaming, crying, yelling, etc. and there’s nothing else you can do but write a song and hope that it gets better. So, for hours sake, I hope these lyrics give you some closure. Much love!
