Don't save it for the weekend
I wrote this one evening when I had been out for drinks with a bunch of creatives from a huge advertising agency. At work, they had all been so scared to let go and be silly. But after a few drinks, they all let their hair down. I've never managed to hide my silliness or dorkiness, and I'm grateful for that. So I guess these lyrics are propaganda material for the promotion of more fun, laughter and silliness in the world.

This child inside of me
Always trying to break free
But not today
Today it has to stay
Hidden, no time for play
Time for work
At work we cannot smile
We’re professional all the time
Why is that?
After work they let their hair down
After work they act like me
Why is that?
Why must we act so boring?
Why can’t we be ourselves
all the time?
Enjoy our lives more openly
With more innocence and glee
Why is that?
Don’t save it for the weekend
Set your inner child free
Every day
Make the world a better place
Put a smile on someone’s face
‘Cause why not?
Brighten up a boring workplace
Put an end to weekday dull-face
Have some fun
When you hear a funny joke
Or when someone makes you laugh
Don’t hold back
Word of warning though, my friends
There’s a reason we’re so tense
so you know…
Someone’s always going to judge you
Maybe laugh at you and tease you
But, so what?
Show those people what they’re missing
It’s a different way of thinking
And it’s fun
Set your inner child free
Do whatever makes you smile
Be like me
Set your inner child free
It’s a blast I guarantee
Spread the joy
Set your inner child free
Have a laugh and have some fun
Lead the way
Set your inner child free
Have a laugh and have some fun
Every day
