Love - Chapter 3 - Starting New On My Own
This is the third chapter (of five) trying to capture the various phases in the love life of a woman. The third chapter describes life when she starts her working life and how being an adult has changed her perceptions of new relationships. And most importantly how the brief end, her first love, fortuitously finds his way back into her life.

Walking in these new shoes
On this road I've never been on
Strangers all around and nothing do I know
Feel alone and cold like buried in snow.
My new home and friends I want to get to know
But it feels not warm nor welcoming
The smiles come dime a dozen
But underneath it reeks of scheming.
Can't befriend can't connect
Can't seem to let in, can't seem to forgive
Did I change in this short time
Or did I unlearn how to forget.
I'm standing in a crowd like a statue all alone
Wishing you were here to breathe life into this stone.
I'm standing in a crowd like a statue all alone
Wishing you were here to breathe life into this stone.
Every night I still sigh
Before I shut my eyes
My thoughts still run to you
Hoping you'd been my bastion old in everything that's new.
The coffee slurps kept me going
Pushing this empty frame on
And then across the street I caught sight of you
All else blurred and suddenly life was one sweet song.
I chased you but you'd turned the corner
Wish I'd moved these clumsy feet a little sooner
The next day in the same place did I in wait lie
And our eyes met, you smiled and after all these years you finally said Hi!!!
I'm standing in a crowd like a statue all alone
Wishing you were here to breathe life into this stone.
I'm standing in a crowd like a statue all alone
Wishing you were here to breathe life into this stone.
