Family Scene

(Rupert Webb)

This song is from the perspective of a woman who is contemplating her ex-husband's new marriage and the part their children will play. It's initially a bit sad and desperate be cause she doesn't understand how he could be so duplicitous, but in the end she is defiant and strong on her own.

It’s such a family scene He’s like the king And she’s like the queen And a prince and princess, like some teen fantasy If this was a lineup, they’d pick me for sure I so don’t belong and I look insecure I guess she is too, but I’m keeping the score And everyone, everywhere, knows that she’s yours Where did my family go? Did you just replace me, without telling so? I try not to care But then I see them all, there. I thought we had everything there in the basket But then you got wealthy and fancied some crumpet And then before long it was all that you wanted You’d neglect me til I’d start to feel haunted So what about now I can’t bear to watch, while you take your new vows You’ve done it twice XXX XXX XXXXXX XXXX XXXXXXXXXX XXXXXXXX XXXXXX XX XXXXX XXXXXXXX XX XXX XXXXX XXXXXXX XXXX XXX X XXXXXX XXXXXXX XXXX XXX XXXXXXXX XXXXXXX XX XXX XX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXX XXXXX XXX XXXXXX XXX XXX X XXXXX XXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXX XXXXX XXXXXX XXXX X XXXXXX XXXXX XXXXX XX XXX XXXXX XXX XXXXXXXXX XX XX XXXXXXX XX XXXXXXXX XXX XXXXX XXXXXXX XX XXXXXXX X XXXXX

I wrote this while unemployed and sitting in a New Enterprise Allowance workshop. I realised early on that I was never going to be able to build a business case to get the money and instead changed my focus to writing down their unsuitable offer, which of course, needed you to sign your life away. It turned out to be very anti The Man. It’s very glum rock. Maybe an electronic beat? The verses could be arranged in any order, but it perhaps suits two pairs of verses, with the two line dreams/seams bit as a chorus. You decide!

Off Limits

By Rupert Webb

I was deliberately ambiguous about why this love is off limits but it’s breaking the singer apart and they are about to risk everything. It could be a friend’s partner, or the boss’ daughter, or the boss, or a subordinate worker who’s off limits. Someone the singer has responsibility for and therefore should behave around.

Crazy Beautiful

By Nick Duer

Another Angel song. She has long flowing hair, and drives a jeep alot of the time. She commented one day that her hair was crazy. I'm living a long way away, and I don't think it was jeep weather there. However I pictured her in the jeep hair blowing everywhere and shorts. A beautiful picture indeed. So my comment was crazy beautiful. I added that was a good song title. I was headed to a doctors appointment that day. So as I waited I wrote the first draft. Here is my final version.
