Pipe Dream Victim
A peppy song sung from a young adult's perspective as they step into Walt Disney World. They do not want to become a "pipe dream victim" and are determined to achieve their goals.

Well, here I am, the land where dreams come true,
The so-called happiest place on Earth,
Yet for some strange reason I’m feeling kinda blue
Wondering if hope can’t eclipse the trouble it’s worth.
I don’t wanna be another pipe dream victim,
Disenchanted, disillusioned by truth’s death stare.
Be content and settle’s such a damned dark dictum
Of which too many dreamers have failed to beware.
Sure, I’ve got an inkling of where I want to go,
What I want to do and who I want to be,
But now I’m starting to think that it’s all been a show,
It’s all been a dead star fading slowly.
Parents tell us lies when we are little
To protect us from the harsh truths of real life,
Rewarding us with a bright green Skittle
If we agree that God will heal all strife.
I don’t wanna be another pipe dream victim,
Disenchanted, disillusioned by truth’s death stare.
Be content and settle’s such a damned dark dictum
Of which too many dreamers have failed to beware.
Dream it, do it, that’s what Walt said,
Freeze your dreams in ice when they are dead
And wait for someone on the road ahead
To revive you on your carbonite bed.
But even that plan seems shaky–
What if no one’s there to wake you up?
What if the doctors are flaky
And “accidentally” give you a poisoned cup?
I’m not gonna be another pipe dream victim,
Disenchanted, disillusioned by truth’s death stare.
Be content and settle’s such a damned dark dictum
Of which this cock-eyed dreamer won’t fail to beware.
