A song I wrote about a situation where a girl called me hostile, and I said she was cold. The rest kind of just wrote itself. Despite some of the lines seeming a bit on the dark side, it's actually much more of an upbeat love song.
A simple, fun song about a guy who really wants to a southern girl. In the US south, southern girls have a particular set of stereotypes surrounding them, and a lot of men are definitely drawn to them. They're known for being a little rowdier and tougher than girls from other parts of the world, and so they definitely have a special section all their own.
The "Cardinal's Inn" is a play on words: Cardinal sin. This is a song about spouses who show up so often to the same seedy motel that it's taken on a different name. It could work in any genre. It's a little on the upbeat side, the way I wrote it.
This is a quirky little lyric, with some humor to it, and just written they very rhythmic way it's things you can be both positive and negative, and the same and opposite. I don't really know how I thought of it, just kind of evolved from one line to the next.
Open the door is a song about an alcoholic whose wife always locks him out of the house whenever he returns home drunk. He garners an audience most of the time, and is always begging to get into his own home.
