That's Why They Make Pictures
No matter who we are, no matter our political or cultural or religious differences, we're all living in this world. We all go through the same things. Life is going to fly right by for us all, and we're all going to feel it slipping away on us. This is just a heartfelt song about having pictures in your life to record all of those precious memories, so we can all look back and reflect.

My oldest boy is eight years now
Man, he's sprung up like a tree
And I tried to be there all I could
But last I recall he was only three
The holidays and birthday cake
Christmas trees and ballgame cheers
I swear I've been there through it all
But it goes by quicker every year
(Chorus)
And that's why they make pictures
Just in case you can't remember
Was it August or September
Maybe April, could be November
The days blaze by as time surrenders
But a glance will spark a fire from the embers
The love will wash over you tender
And that's why they make pictures
I imagine dog years at this pace
What I'll forget that I tried to hold
Some days I feel I'm gonna live forever
The next morning feeling far too old
When eight turns into thirty-three
Grandchildren loom around that bend
Hope I keep a camera in my pocket
To record those precious times with them
(Chorus)
