Measure of a Man

(Dan Cardwell)

This is one of those stream of consciousness type of lyrics; it's partly inspired by recently reading the 'autobiography' of MLK, but more generally, it's about the duality that can exist in one person - that they can be both good and bad.

You told me that love is all words and emotions But you know I’m a poet who’s fallen from his pulpit I bent the arc towards justice but I snapped yours in my hand I know the proof of burdens tough when it’s your word against a mans If I thought they’d listen, I ask god for forgiveness But I know I killed your faith and made you bear witness So I don’t think we’re on speaking terms I confess I fear the worst Without you I’m nothing but words Empty words... I told them I got Chorus: The measure of a man The measure of a man But I don’t live to the standard That I said that we all can If you tear it apart you can reassemble the pieces But the stitches don’t last when loves betrayal is repeated And I know you fear that the hurt is gonna beat us But every time it feels done we make it across those bridges It seems people think in love I’m a modern Jesus But you know I got as many sins as I got believers From sins of flesh onto the cross I was leading you to love But on the way I got us lost We’re so lost…. I told them I got Chorus: The measure of a man The measure of a man But I don’t live to the standard That I said that we all can Middle 8/Break: And I had a dream…. of a place without sorrow And I had a dream… of a place without pain And I had a dream… I may not get there with you But I had this dream… that I believe in all the same I know to believe in love you must overcome your fear But hate is just to great a burden to have to bear It’s a burning cross that can sometimes feel too much But when you look at what we got what else is enough There are statues that deserve to be pulled to ground But good and evil both exist within the measure of a man The measure of a man The measure of a man The measure of a man

Everyday Love

By Dan Cardwell

As art and music can often be about extraordinary tales of passion and heartache, I thought I would attempt to write a lyric that celebrated the ordinary and how deep, meaningful, and passionate that can actually be.

Where Once Was Wonder

For me personally, it's a lullaby to my wife about IVF, but really, it can be a song to anyone about believing in hope at a time in life where the light at the end of the tunnel seems like an impossible destination.

I got to writing a song about these strange times we are living in that sort of turned into an argument between lovers.

Despite loving someone, words and emotions can test a relationship in times of difficulty and fear. Avalanche expresses those feelings and it brings it alive.

REAL TRUTH?

By Neels Brand

I am sure that by posting thos I will open myself to ridicule and jokes. Yet how quikly we forget man's inhumsanty to man. We forget the horrific experiments that have been perform without consent on mothers and babies involving tadiation poisoninh, even soldiers while testing a new gas.... In the 90s Bill Clinton himself said sorry to hundreds of lives that had been ruined by braincontrolling experiments against the subjects knowledge, some of them even having found a capsule shaped object implanted in their heads revealed by exray, and the president not only admitted to this but took resposibility. Why is it so hard fir people to bepieve that I am one of God knows how many subjects for a nano-neural study. The tech already exists to communicate with people in a coma. If you narrate thoughts, the software can interpret it, and even more amazing is putting "voices" back into your brain without the need of sound. Apparently they have moved on from just mere boneconduction for sound. Read about it. Honestly, how crazy do I sound now. It does not matter, we live in ex iting times and tech is growing exponencially at such a frenetic rate I do not believe even Elon Musk's safe guards against AI is going to help.
