Tom Petty

(Brian Hendrix)

This is simply a song about Tom Petty, and in every line of the song, one of Tom's song titles is used. It's not about imitating Petty, but rather respecting the man and his legacy of great music.

I see sun shinin' on the wildflowers Under the magnolia tree And my change of heart in this great, wide open Felt like I was runnin' down a dream Oh, you honey bee, buzz on around me I'm a new man, just takin' my time (Chorus) I heard Tom Petty sing He answered some questions But asked many more I can't find answers to In my time of need I've learned many lessons And ask myself what would Tom Petty do It always comes back to one thing... He'd probably write and sing I feel so free when around the roses Just like I'm learnin' to fly It's always so nice, I feel a whole lot better When there's no reason to cry If it'd make it better, just forget about me I still refuse to lead a wasted life (Chorus) (Bridge) Don't be shy; kiss me, babe Don't do me like that Too much ain't enough And I know yer so bad (Chorus)

Chop Down Those Trees

By Brian Hendrix

A song about encouragement, more than anything. The idea is that there are always going to be things in your way, blocking your path, so when you're in a good enough place in life and able to swing your axe, go on and grab it and chop down those trees in your way.

Every Time I Sit and Write A Song

By Brian Hendrix

A song written about a songwriter who finds that every single song they end up writing, it really just brings up a ton of negative emotions and life experiences. The idea is that these things become the song, and then those feelings go away, but they still come back every time he sits to write a song.

Shadow of Myself

By Brian Hendrix

This song is about someone who's in love with someone else who's already in a relationship. So despite all the times he's daydreamed about being with her, they're still only daydreams. The idea of dancing with his own shadow isn't just literal; it's also metaphorical in the sense that these feelings make him feel like a shadow of his former self.

No is an answer

By Howard Aronson

This is a weird lyric I'm not even sure the real meaning of it. I just know that for so many years I turned to drugs to find peace which is an oxymoron. I never took the word no for an answer in just about everything I did. I only wanted to hear yes, or thought that I could do anything. I realized today that no is an answer, and some things are just out of my reach. I definitely realize today that drugs was not the answer and I should have said no.

Will-O'-the-Wisp

By Melanie Thompson

Happy Halloween. This October has had some very scary days. We have mass shootings. We have war. We have in-fighting amongst the populous. Everyone seems to have a bone to pick. When I was little, I enjoyed Halloween. The costumes. The free candy. The decorations. It was fun. This Halloween not so much. Will-o'-the-Wisp is a deceiver. He is an evil that seems to be everywhere. These lyrics unmask him.
