Taken away

(Edward McBride)

This song describes a young mans utter devastation at losing his wife, he also has a young child. He starts off with heavy drinking until he passes out on the floor. He is not taking care of his child or himself and has given up his passion of singing and playing guitar. He finally comes to his senses and starts to take care of the child and himself. In time he picks up the guitar and starts to play again followed by singing. He enters the Voice and wins. His only regret is that his wife is not with him.

My wife just passed I have a child what do I do now i have some drinks and then some more i passed out on the floor My guitar sits silent I do not sing I just want to drink as I slowly sink I am depressed think only about me I need to change to save my child Chorus The loss of life is hard to take My heart hangs heavy in my chest I go to bed my eyes are red another lonely night I give up drink I get some help I start to play my guitar I have a voice for the competition I make it to the finals I am so proud It's overwhelming I start to feel the love I win it all I feel such joy It's really turned around My heart still aches my body shakes I wish she shared this with me A broken man the mental pain in time it will get better Chorus The loss of life is hard to take my heart hangs heavy in my chest I go to bed my eyes are red another lonely night
