It all happened so quickly took us all by surprise Just a quiet Sunday morning checking out my ride Got down to the crossroads all was going well Til a trucker turned to quickly and all his cargo fell I hung around that hospital until you arrived With tear filled eyes you wondered if I’d survived You wanted to see me hoping that I’d be okay Doctor shook his head said I’d slipped away I was there watching has you walked into that place You took my cold hand and held it to your face Saw you kiss my fingers stroke my wedding ring Wanted to hold you but I couldn’t do a thing Now I watch you while you are sleeping I’ve seen every tear you cried Heard every prayer you prayed As I wait for you on this side Even death can’t part us The bond we have is too strong And I’ll be here waiting When it’s your time to come along So, when you feel the morning draft Blowing softly across your hair It’s just my breath giving you a gentle touch To let you know I’m there

Opfer der Zeit

By Roland Köhler
