I just heard the news, now I’m feeling the blues
An old friend of mine passed away.
Hadn’t seen her in years, she gave up it appears,
Couldn’t go on alone one more day.
Heartbroken by what she has done,
I think back to when we were young.
Her name was Brianna, future Miss Indiana
She captured the stars in her eyes.
Casting shadows at night by the rising moonlight
We held hands as we chased fireflies.
Life was so innocent then.
Why can’t we live it again?
Oh, Brianna you told me we’d fly to the stars
And promised that love never dies.
I knew that the heavens would on day be ours
As long as I followed the light in your eyes.
My constant companion, we played with abandon
And carved both our names in a tree
In my dreams I go there, climbing high in the air
Where the cosmos still beckons to me.
I’ll never accept that she’s gone
For I have to believe she lives on
Oh, Brianna you told me we’d fly to the stars
And promised that love never dies.
I knew that the heavens would on day be ours
As long as I followed the light in your eyes.
If you’re traveling light years away
Tell Orion to show me the way
Oh, Brianna did you make your own way to the skies?
Do you watch over me as I watch the moon rise,
And search for the light you can nice held in your eyes?
In your eyes.
Oh where can I find the light in your eyes?
