Katahdin

(Howard Aronson)

This is a lyric that's a true story, about me getting frostbite trying to climb Mount Katahdin. Mount Katahdin is the highest point in Maine, and one of the toughest climbs that I've ever done. I was trying to do this in winter obviously, and that is probably the toughest time to climb that mountain. First of all you have to hike in 13 miles pulling in a sled with all your gear, plus carrying your pack with other gear. That day it was so cold, with the wind chill it was probably 20 something below zero. Everything froze within an hour. The only thing that I had that didn't freeze was my trail mix. For some reason things went wrong, either I didn't drink and eat enough the day before, or I didn't eat enough in the morning before the hike. When I got to the cabin and took my mittens off, all my fingertips were blue. But there was a happy ending, because the park is covered by the rangers year round. So one of them came to check on us the next morning saw my fingertips and gave me a ride on his snowmobile back to my car. Basically because of that my fingers were saved. But it goes to show you, that even someone experienced like me, can have things go wrong really fast. You have to make good decisions up there, and I certainly didn't make one that day

On a frigid and blustery day In Baxter State Park Hiking with two friends It went wrong from the start Everything froze Including my hands A victim of the land Where anything goes Trying to climb the main mountain Also know as Katahdin We got caught in the storm Cuz in Winter that's the norm Now I'm used to the cold Never had frostbite And I would find out Cuz my hands were frozen by night The mountains giveth and taketh So you better have respect Cuz if you don't You may wind up dead Trying to climb the "Main Mountain Also know as Katahdin We got caught in the storm Cuz in Winter that's the norm The first to the summit Were the Abenaki's Protected by the God's There was beauty as far as their eyes could see Many people of tried And have met the mountains wrath But if you summit It's one of the best times you'll ever have Trying to climb the "Main Mountain Also know as Katahdin We got caught in the storm Cuz in Winter that's the norm I didn't get to the top And my hands would heal One thing I know In any season, the danger is real There's no doubt I will try again One of these Winters And hope for a different end Trying to climb the "Main Mountain Also know as Katahdin We got caught in the storm Cuz in Winter that's the norm The Main Mountain Katahdin Katahdin Katahdin

Relief

By Howard Aronson

This song is about when I'm in the throes of my addiction. I know I need to get out of the situation that I'm in. Even though I had a hard life growing up, it's no excuse for sitting around and doing drugs and playing the victim. Sometimes life isn't fair, it just wasn't meant to be that way. So you have to help yourself, and also ask for help from others.

Don't sit back

By Howard Aronson

His lyric is about to war in Ukraine. It's about appealing to people to not sit back and watch the TV, and listen to all the news, while people die for no reason at all. It's about reaching out and reaching in to your pockets and helping any way you can. The people of Ukraine deserve that, and we can't sit back and do nothing. As people here in America, that's not what we're all about, and I'm sure the same goes for most of the European nations. We all have to pitch in and do our part to help these people.

If you ever need me

By Howard Aronson

This song is about a relationship that didn't end very well, as the woman left the man for another guy. He was heartbroken and couldn't understand it but it has another side to it, because he finds out that the guy left his ex for another woman. It's kind of ironic, poetic, and in his mind Justice. But he really cares for her, and would love to get back together with her. So he tells her if you ever need me I'll be there, hoping that she might come crying back into his arms. He knows that she still cares about him, and he's appealing to her that their love is worth trying again

Another lonely night

By Howard Aronson

This lyric is about a relationship where the man makes a big mistake and the relationship falls apart. Now he's having remorse everyday and every night, and reminiscing and all that was good about what they had. At first he didn't think that he deserved to be on the outside looking in. But then when he thought about what he did he realized the mistake that he made. Basically he's pleading to her for one more chance, and it's telling her in so many words how sorry he is, and talking about the good things that they had in the past
