SIRENS
A sad-ish song about the Greek myth of Odysseus and the sirens. The view from the sky as a person is drowning.

The Ocean’s endless tides, ebb and flow
Carry us away
Embraced by the waves – caressing us as we drown
Gasping, burning lungs
The muted sounds of my screams
Staring at a distorted sky
Moon and stars out of place
Dancing their warped dance
Weakening hands reach out
There’s none to touch
Was it a ghost?
A hush befalls the scene
The quieting in my ears – a darkness
