Family Scene
This song is from the perspective of a woman who is contemplating her ex-husband's new marriage and the part their children will play. It's initially a bit sad and desperate be cause she doesn't understand how he could be so duplicitous, but in the end she is defiant and strong on her own.

It’s such a family scene
He’s like the king
And she’s like the queen
And a prince and princess, like some teen fantasy
If this was a lineup, they’d pick me for sure
I so don’t belong and I look insecure
I guess she is too, but I’m keeping the score
And everyone, everywhere, knows that she’s yours
Where did my family go?
Did you just replace me, without telling so?
I try not to care
But then I see them all, there.
I thought we had everything there in the basket
But then you got wealthy and fancied some crumpet
And then before long it was all that you wanted
You’d neglect me til I’d start to feel haunted
So what about now
I can’t bear to watch, while you take your new vows
You’ve done it twice
But you always said second’s nowhere, right?
So I’m standing up and I’m walking tall
And I really don’t care cos you’re nowhere at all
My children will come home late Sunday night
And forget you for 2 weeks while they live their lives
It’s such a family scene
I’m so the queen
And there’s no in between
So here’s the thing
Won’t be needing a king.
