This is Love

(Brian Hendrix)

A folk song that's very upbeat in rhythm with a choppy cadence that flies right through the verses, though it still has a profound meaning in terms of how it touches on love and how little time we all have to feel it. This one is great as just an acoustic song, in my opinion. It's how I play it.

Her hand looks older when I hold it That's just fine, so does mine It's just time And it can't imprint the memories Without etching some fine lines Her eyes look brighter than they used to A shining hue of grayish blue Sparkle through If the glow could speak a word at all It'd tell me "I love you" (Chorus) Shorter days and longer nights Harsher cold felt through these bones But I hold her and she holds me Reminisce on a million stories told Through two lifetimes lived as one Had enough days in the sun That it could rain forever now And still not cause a flood And that's the truth... And this is love My heart beats faster when I see her It always did, since way back when Once again I see her in the moonlight And it makes my head to spin I hear her voice calling out to me I get a jolt, don't think I don't A lightning bolt Energy climbs up my spine Whenever her sweet words are spoke (Chorus)

All the Time

By Brian Hendrix

This is more of a modern spin on a classic tale of a guy who's heartbroken without the love of his life. Doesn't have to be that gender-specific. Switch it up and it works well for anyone who's ever lost someone they truly loved. Sometimes things strike us a bit on the weird side, because we miss them all the time. The bridge is meant to bleed into the chorus in one-party harmony. I hope that comes through in a lyrics-only format.

Songs About Women

By Brian Hendrix

For male singer-songwriters, likely in every genre of music, we find that a lot of our songs are about women. It just came to me to write a song about how there are so many songs about women. I think it came out pretty catchy and poignant in places. And it's true: No matter your situation, there's a song about women for you.

That's Why They Make Pictures

By Brian Hendrix

No matter who we are, no matter our political or cultural or religious differences, we're all living in this world. We all go through the same things. Life is going to fly right by for us all, and we're all going to feel it slipping away on us. This is just a heartfelt song about having pictures in your life to record all of those precious memories, so we can all look back and reflect.

You're Drinkin' Tonight

By Brian Hendrix

A song about a woman who made the choice to leave her man, and the man warned her that she would be lonely and regret it. The story is basically that he knows she drinks to forget the memories but can't. Kind of just flipping the old country trope about the "Man always drinks" on its head.

Afraid

When you lose all control of your life, and you’re so self destructive that you’ve become afraid of yourself. You don’t want to be though. But you can’t control it anymore. Self sabotage is in your cards.

Manchmal und Oft

By David Bukovic
