The good old days

(Howard Aronson)

This is a lyric about democracy and how the United States has moved so far right, divided and on the track for despair. Most of the world looks up to the United States, and sees us as a strong democracy, but that no longer may be the case. We've elected a man who should never be president, a criminal, and someone who wants to hurt our country, and not play nice with the rest of the world..

Some people deny what their eyes see Some people don't know what it means to be free They'd rather bend their knees to a king Now this guy is living in the West Wing So many people believed the lies That's how we got here So many people covered their ears And they'll live their life in fear Fight for freedom Fight for democracy Fight against the lies And the hypocrisy He says insurrectionist Are Patriots and hostages But let me tell you something They're just the opposite How have we let A proud country like ours Going the wrong Right direction They'll be nothing left Which is so not right And it'll never be right I long for the good old days When people didn't fight so much When a country wasn't so divided When we remained more in touch Fight for freedom Fight for democracy Fight against the lies And the hypocrisy

Singing on the corner

By Howard Aronson

This is a fictional lyric about someone who's a sidewalk performer, and hoping that he makes a big someday. It's so hard to become a star at anything, even if you're good, to be a pro at it is mostly a dream and people's minds. But you can never give up, and hope that one day you'll get a chance to prove to everyone that you belong on the big stage.

Gambling Man

By Howard Aronson

This lyric is about being clean and sober and not going back to drugs. Not listening to the lies that my head tells me. I know that every day that I was out there I was a gambling man, and I skirted death. But today I'm not willing to gamble my sobriety and I don't really do any gambling in general.

Dealing with dreams

By Howard Aronson

This is a lyric about dreaming. I think most of our lives are consumed by dreams that may or may not come true. We always ask ourselves what's the point of living, why are we on this earth, what's our purpose. I think you have to believe in anything that you dream if you wanted to come true. Nothing's over till it's over, so at the end of the day you hope that there's a next one, and maybe that's the day your dreams come true.

Miss Right

By Howard Aronson

This is a lyric about never being able to find the true love that my heart and mind desires. There's been times when I think I was afraid to go up to somebody and tell them that I like them or thought they were beautiful or even just to ask them if they were single and ask if they want to go out on a date. One day I think I'll have the courage, or maybe the good fortune of finding that woman. I guess I just have to leave it up to fate, hope that organically it happens.
