I can recall them days
I said i can recall them days
Back when momma had dreams and she gave them up for me
back when i had no idea of poverty
I remember them days
We had to run home before that street light see us
or momma would beat us
Momma i understand the lesson you were teaching
curfew is mandatory so we ain't being held treason
I remember i remember
When you ain't let us go outside when you ain't let us have this or that
then popped us on the mouth when we ain't know how to act
Momma i get it another life lesson
we can't always get our way and have what we want
and throwing a fit in public is just what we won't
Momma i rememer them days
You would tell us not to cry when we hurt our self
because you knew one day we'd know what real pain was
when we saw the hand we were delt
and all of a sudden a scrapped knee isn't felt
in comparison to a broken heart split in half by a black belt
Momma thank you for the memories
and the life lessons it all make sense now
and its a blessing
you taught me how to take this day by day and be patient
now i know my time is coming and i ain't scared of waiting
Momma you such a blessing a wish i had it in me to tell you more
say these things in person while you still here
but see im still learning confidence and its to the floor
i know im coming of age now and your final lesson will be kicking me to the door
I'm gone have mixed feeling about it even when im on my own
but when i call please pick up the phone
and tell me more
Tell me more
I heard a mothers job is never done
And i need a mothers intuition
So let me know that you ain't finish
And tell me more
