Wake Up

(Xienna Gaines)

I wrote thing song at a time where I felt a mixture of hope and desperation. This song is not only a call to those that are proud to be deep, intellectual individuals but it's also a call to those that have yet to awaken the deeper, darker, more intense parts of themselves. The parts of themselves that are very important if they are ever to become whole. Before writing these lyrics, I had gotten inspired by a close friend of mine who I could always see really deep into. Although they have made it a part of their life path to show others the way to awakening, I can see within them that they themselves have not fully awakened and have yet to see the full picture, what's truly in front of them. They focus so hard on helping others, which I have always found incredible but they forget about themselves. The question really is, how much longer can you help others when you haven't even finished helping yourself? These particular feelings I have about this person come and go, they aren't consistent. However, I can tell that fully awakening is a struggle for this person and writing these lyrics was a way for me to reach out to them and not just tell them, but show them that I am here and will help them move along their path and the process towards awakening.

Well when the void is calling I must go I have awakened to things Not everyone can know Well when the rain is falling It awakens all my soul Oh deep down I know Yes I know You're sleep Wake up Let me hold you You shine so bright Even stars can't behold you You think the world has taught you what you need to know Just let it go Let yourself show You're sleep Wake up Let me guide you Whatever you do Don't let this twisted world hide you Well you were meant for more than this You've got to let it show I'm letting you know Because I know You're sleep You're dead It's time to use your head Forget all they have XXXXXX XXX XXXXXX XXX XXXXXX XXXXXXX XXXX XXXXXX XXXXXXX XXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XX XXX XXXXX XXX XXX XXXXX XXXX XXX XXX XXX XXXXX XXXX XX XXX XXXXX XX XXXX XX XXX XXXX XXXXXX XXX XXXX XXXXXX XXXXX XXXX XX XXX XX XXXX XXX XXX XXXXX XX XXXXXX XXXX XXXXX XXXXX XXXXXX XXX XXXXXX XXXXX XXXX XX XXXX XX XXXX XX

Midnight Without You

By Xienna Gaines

These lyrics were written when I was going through a tough time not having somebody I love close to me anymore. I got to a point where I was so close to them being there and when they no longer were it was like what I was used to was snatched away from me so suddenly and because I wasn't expecting it, it hurt even more than it probably would have if I had seen it coming. However, something like somebody leaving you is not something you usually see coming. It just hit me out of nowhere and at that point in my life, that was the last thing I needed. This song is raw and real and was written while I was in the middle of going through a really rough time in my life. This song is relateable yet unique because even though it explains a situation that lots of us have gone through in our lives, I have managed to bring details that relate directly to my personal experience with this concept and I think that really helps these lyrics stand out as opposed to some others about this same subject that don't have the unique details that I've added in my version of these types of lyrics.

Pretend

By Victor Prosolow

The meaning behind this song is just that feeling that nothing ever goes right but yet you just push through it with a positive attitude until it starts to turn around for the better. It's also about heartbreak and being alone and trying to deal with the harsh reality of moving on from someone that you truly loved. Going from being in a deep loving relationship into having nobody is a very tough struggle. Some people can hide it well and some people cannot. No matter how much you say you're okay, the fact is most of the time you are only pretending that you're okay just to get by. When you are left in your own head to wonder and try to answer the question of "Why?", then it gets really difficult to look inside yourself and not think that there is something wrong with you. Why else would they leave? What's better about the person they left you for? Why wont they even try to make things work? These are questions you ask yourself. And you wonder about where they are and who they're with and if they are happier with their new life. Going on about your daily life becomes very difficult and you dont want to talk about it so you act like everything is fine. That's basically what the song is about. I went through a severe heartbreak. I got really sick. I lost a scary amount of weight and I was not doing well for a while. I lost my car, I was months behind on all my bills, and I would've lost my apartment if it wasnt for my landlord being so nice. I had a very bad falling out. And then when I was at my absolute lowest point, I realized that I am not being the best person I can be and it shows. So I made it a point to get myself better and turn things around. I got healthy, I was exercising daily, I started writing again and that is when I got the inspiration for this song.
