This song is about a woman that keeps you safe and warm. Whenever you're in her arms, but she gives you a kiss it just relieves all the tension that you're going through. I believe love will always keep you warm. It's a metaphor lyric, as she's the fire and on the wood and the fire will go out if there's no more wood. I just hope that she doesn't find some other wood somewhere else, and let the fire, our fire go out. She's the love of my life, and no other woman that I have been with before could compare, and I believe that no other woman that I would ever meet would live up to her
This lyric is about my first real love, when I was living in San Francisco in 1984. As soon as I saw her I was completely attracted and wanted to know who she was. She was on a life cycle at the gym, and as luck would have it after waiting for one to open up the one next to her became available. I waited for about 10 minutes and then asked her name and introduced myself. I asked her out to dinner, she said yes and the rest was all history as they say. Even though she had a boyfriend back in Canada, they had an agreement that they were free to do what they wanted while they were apart from each other. Being so young I didn't care about the boyfriend back in canada, and I had already come to grips with the fact that one day she would go back there for good because she was on a student visa. I can't even begin to tell you the unbelievable times that I had with her, and how she shaped my mind as far as women and their needs and so much more for years to come. Now in my 60s, I still remember her like yesterday. There are times when I want to go back to that time in the gym and see the first love of my life.
This lyric is about finding the love of your life and feeling like your life is in Paradise. It's the woman you want to have your child and live happily ever after with. It doesn't happen too often in life, when it does I would imagine it does feel like paradise.
For Nell and Ludlow “Lud” Thorston. Loud was a prominent water colorist who passed a few years ago at 92. He loved to listen to “The Divine One”, Ms. Sarah “Sassy” Vaughn while he painted. One day, in 1990, upon completing a beautiful water color of a sand dune, he heard that Ms. Vaughn had passed away. With tear filled eyes he came down the steps from his studio and told his darling wife Nell. He named his painting SARAH.
