Well I didn't see that coming
a sucker punch out of the blue
had to check those rumours
needed to know what was true

hidden messages is cheating
or why hide them at all
only found by accident
when I went to make a call

then I saw in black and white
messages going to and fro
you to him and back again
things I needed to know

if the devil is in the detail
I got all the detail I need
wrecked my head, after all, you'd said
and that made my heart bleed

you were the one on the pedestal
held up high for all to see
moral and right a beacon of light
you took that away from me

all my trust turned to dust
a heart that will never mend 
my number one my soulmate had gone
and I'd lost my very best friend
