No Pressure

(Annabel Chima)

This song is quite niche...it's about gate-keeping the Exotical Community - for ALL Exoticals (Dark-Skinned, Brown-Skinned, Light-Skinned) - basically people who are Mixed/Admixed or 'look Mixed'. Further to this, it is about forming a safe space for us - or perhaps a new 'World' for us where we leave behind the outdated systems and form our own communities... I focus on the need to protect the young ones/the kids so that certain cycles don't repeat. I grew up hearing people bombard me with questions like, "What are you Mixed with?" and even had adults not believing my parents are my parents or saying I should "question them" about where I "really" come from (insinuating that my parents were hiding a certain DNA admixture in my bloodline from me)...I do not want my 'future' kids to go through that and I know that many Mixed/Admixed people can relate to this. I want my 'future' Exotical kids to be surrounded by other Exoticals who understand them/their looks/phenotype/ethnic background etc, not a society that constantly pokes at their looks and analyses how 'exotic' they look 24/7. We are often criticised more than others and feel the pressures to perform well or be 'perfect' in society. Additionally, it is not our fault that the world pedestalises us; we should own who we are, what we look like, and our accomplishments; I want us to be free, hence the song title, 'No Pressure'. The lyrics are just an Ode to ALL Exoticals - I want solidarity between us...do with it as you please! Genres: Rap, Hip Hop, RnB, Trap, Drill, Country, Poetry.

[Verse] Oh God, not again If I say how many times I've heard, "Is that all your hair?" I'd be dead I'd be declared a Billionaire Skin on dark, like "Is that a tan?" Yes, I'm a ten Yes, everything's real - my hair, my chest and derrière Keep things one hundred percent Yes when I kill germs, 'Anti-Bac' is scared 'Anti-White' and 'Anti-Black' deserve each other I'm not either but I came prepared Hanging on the walls like the 'Monalisa' (observer) My lips on swole - like Angelina My hips don't lie - word to Shakira I'm a big deal in my town - need a bigger Crown And I'm down like the ten on my street Knights, Presidents, and Ministers break necks just to see the jiggle They feel so entitled (like the man) I'll turn them to Dads I'll make 'em weed out my haters like police do with criminals 'Cause I feel like people are way too concerned with what my kid will look like Feel like Meghan Markle What the glow is How sharp the nose is (Why you got a nose bridge?) Waves or whether it's Curlies Because God blessed us all It's not our fault that we're always chosen first Quick to be at the front of the line but never at the back of the bus All this Activism shit got me feeling like Rosa Parks And if I hide my future kid It's 'cause the World's weird Maybe that's why Drake did Feel sorry for Mixed Kids, Exoticals always get shit! Brown, Chocolate, Yellow - people are always trying us (pop shit) But I'm raising up the dead to Heaven They call me 'Raises' If I see you in the streets don't even ask about XXXX XXXXXXX XX XXX XXXXXX XX XXXX XXXXX XXXX XXX XXX XXXXXX XXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXX XXX XXXXXXXX XX XXXX XXX XXXXXX XXXX XXXXXXXXX XXXX XX XXXXX XX XXXXXX XXXX XX XXXXXX XXXX XXXXXXXXX XXXX XX XXX XXX XXXXXX XX XXX XXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXX XXXXXX XXXX XXXXXX XXXX XXXXXXX XXXXXXX XXXX XXXXXX XXX XXXX XXX XXXXX XX XXX XXXX XXX XXXX XXXX XXXXXX XXX XXX XXXXXX XXXXX XXX XXXXX XXXXX XXX XX XXXXX XXX XXX XXX XXXXX XXXXX XXXX XX XXXXXXX XXXXX XXXX XX XXXXXXXXX XXXXXXX XXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXXX XXX XXXXX XXXXXX XXXXXXXXXXX XXX XXXXXXXXX XXXX XXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXX XXX XX XXXX XXXX XX XXXXXXXXX XXX XXXX XXX XXXXX XXXXXX XXX XXXX XX XXX XXXX XXXXX XXX XXX X XXX XXXXXX XXXX XXXX XX XXXX XXXXX XXXXX X XXX XXXXXXXXX XX XX XXXX XXXXX XXXX XXXXX XX XXXXXXXXX

Pinup

By Annabel Chima

This song is about being a pinup model and being desired by men; having a lot of options, but nothing excites you; opting for money over a romantic relationship because men fall in love with the fantasy of you and beautiful women like you...without caring to know the ‘inner you’ or the 'emotional' you. When I wrote this, I was inspired by the 40s’/50s’/60s’ pinup eras and the Old Hollywood Icon, MM (Marilyn Monroe), who I am a huge fan of! The lyrics are strictly about the modelling industry (historically and modern-day), beautiful women, and getting what you want/can out of a Patriarchal and misogynistic world… Although I wrote this song to empower women, I DO NOT want it to elicit ‘gender wars’ (against men); I would just like for women to feel confident enough in their beauty, intelligence, and business skills. And I would want them to know that they have choices, and do not have to follow the crowd... What today’s society deems as being ‘selfish’, I deem as having an abundance of ‘self-love’. Genres: R’n’B, Rap, Hip Hop, Pop, Drill.

troe fée (Trophy)

By Annabel Chima

This lyric is about desiring a 'Sub'/'Dom' relationship (from a Submissive girl's point of view). It describes the girl's beauty through the lens of the Dom, but there is a 'sassiness'/'saditty' vibe to the way the Submissive girl describes herself (in the intro, chorus, and outro), and what she wants (in the verses and in the bridge). In other words, She still knows herself even though she wants to be controlled! NB: "troe" = 'believe' in Danish; "fée" = 'fairy' in French. Genres: Pop, Rap, Hip Hop, Grunge, Dance, Techno, R'n'B.

Saved By Summer

By Annabel Chima

This lyric is inspired by 'Emo Girl' - MGK, Willow Smith, Blink-182's 'What's My Age Again?', and just the nostalgia of old skl teenage rock songs e.g. 'Teenage Dirtbag' - Wheatus, 'Crashed The Wedding' - Busted, 'Last Resort' - Papa Roach, and a lot of McFly songs. As much as I loved the RnB / Hip Hop genres, these 'Rocky' styles of mysic made up a lot of my childhood and I am saddened that many artists of the 2020s generation, do not make these styles of rock songs anymore. 'Saved By Summer' is for the emo kids; the ones who felt misunderstood growing up, but also those who took more of a rebellious turn later in life...I wrote this song for you! It is about a melancholy experience of life, with 'Summer' being both a literal season and a personification of a love interest 'saving' the protagonist/artist from the gloom of their personal life/school life. On a positive note, Summer signifies the emergence of Holiday, Romance, ice cream, and fun. A sweet escape or escapade! Contrastingly, on a more darker note, in this song, 'Summer' could also symbolise death/suicide (with themes of "the ocean" and references to not being able to "float"), 'freeing' the protagonist/artist from the stresses/stressers of life. Ultimately, the song ends reassuring the protagonist/viewer/listener that they do not have to live in gloom, as "Summer's always in sight..."  Freedom and hope are the end goals! It's emo, it's foreboding, but it's also cathartic. (It is written from the male perspective but feel free to change/amend the genders to your liking/preference e.g. "He"/"She" etc, but you must keep the overall song in first person). Genres: Rock / Rap / Indie.

Narco.

By Annabel Chima

This song lyric is 50 lines of woe, and describes the feeling of narcissism, using the themes of drug use, religion, worthlessness, sex, loneliness, and greed. It is dark, confessional, depressive, and it is written like sort of a 'soliloquy'. There is no hook. There is no verse. There is no chorus. Its last few lines close the song with feelings of acceptance and conviction. Feel free to do with it as you please! Genre: rap, trap, hip hop, drill, memoir.

The good old days

By Howard Aronson

This is a lyric about democracy and how the United States has moved so far right, divided and on the track for despair. Most of the world looks up to the United States, and sees us as a strong democracy, but that no longer may be the case. We've elected a man who should never be president, a criminal, and someone who wants to hurt our country, and not play nice with the rest of the world..
