Country Never Left

(Brian Hendrix)

Just a different way to say "You can take the girl out the country, but can't take the country out the girl." This is a very upbeat, rockin' song with a lot of tempo and a powerful chorus. I really like how this turned out, especially the bridge into the chorus. My favorite part of the song. This is also a story a lot of people can relate to who ended up in the city. The chorus pauses for a measure after the ellipses, and it sounds really good that way.

She’s a-ridin’ down Park Avenue after gettin’ off of work Crankin’ old Bocephus, shootin’ city folk a smirk She’s livin’ in a high-rise, sleepin’ under city lights But dreams about the stars up in that Alabama sky (Chorus) ‘Cause the country never left The southern heart within her chest Still beats for ol’ Dixie See it in the way she’s dressed She’s got steel-toe boots, ripped blue jeans That drawl comes out when she gets mean Rebel ready, you can bet... She mighta left the country But the country never left Men in suits, and women spending days in some boutique To pose for pretty pictures, while she puts Skoal in her cheek Weaving through a crowd of thousands, whistlin’ out a song She knows she can fit in but still feels she don’t belong (Chorus) (Bridge) She’s only here to earn a livin’ Has to put food in her mouth Her body might stay in the city But her soul resides down south (Chorus)

Maybe It's Just You

By Brian Hendrix

A story about a smart, funny, magnetically beautiful girl who doesn't realize all of those things about herself. She thinks that men are only interested in her for wearing skirts or just how she looks, not realizing how exciting of a person she is. So it's a little song about a man speaking with her and noticing these qualities about her, and he thinks that she must not know how awesome she is.

What She Does

By Brian Hendrix

I guess by having a steady, loving girlfriend who's an influence in my life, she acts in many ways as my muse, so I'm writing a lot less about heartbreak and more about being in love. That's a good thing; we could all use songs like that. This one in particular is just a man singing the praises of his woman and pointing out all of those many things she does for him.

Thinking The Same Thing

By Brian Hendrix

When two people are in love, it sometimes can feel like they're sharing the same brain. There's just a certain look or sigh or feeling you get that lets you know that your partner is ready for... well... those private things, and you're both thinking the same thing. This chorus turned out really well, and I think I did a good job of writing around that to let the hook stand out as pretty strong.

Except For Me

By Brian Hendrix

I wanted to take a unique angle on a song about a guy loving a girl. Instead of heaping a bunch of praise on his girl endlessly, the song is more of a warning for other things (men, death, whatever) to stay the heck out of his way, because his girl is his, and you can't have her! I've never seen another song like this. Not saying it's setting a new trend, just that its premise is original.

Heller Stern

By Andrea Pflüger

Ein trauriges, aber hoffnungsvolles Lied. Ein Mensch muss gehen und lässt seine Lieben zurück. Doch es gibt einen hellen Stern, der sie als Zeichen der Hoffnung trösten kann.

Forget Me Not

By Jordan Lewis

Not every road in life is meant for two. Some things you have to do on your own, some places you have to get to by yourself. But the important thing is to remember the ones who were there for you and the memories that were created along the way.
