Under the magnolia, in the middle of the summer
I was holding your hand, when I told ya I loved ya
And the blossoms smelled so sweet, just like your hair
Climbing up the branches, gonna pick ya some petals 
I can just float up there, and I doubt that I’d settle

Up in the magnolia, there’s a family of robins

Seeing the magnolia nowadays, it reminds us
How the love of our past is not that far behind us
We got miles of roads to go, the coming rings
All the chickadees, finches, cardinals and sparrows
That have lived in the branches are gone but their memories
Linger on like those initials carved in the tree
