Verse 1. My baby said you're hanging around her office. Talking that sweet talk. Offering her your love. Over and over she told you she was taken. Now, listen up I'm telling you for myself. Chorus 1. Brace for impact. Brace for impact. Here comes a cold hard fist fact to your face. Big mistake you're making 'cause that's my wife you're chasing. Not inclined still? Best persuade yourself. Verse 2. My baby claims you're asking for hugs and kisses. Again and again invading her personal space. Pinning her in telling her there's no escaping. Pucker up son I'm throwing you one to your lips. Chorus 2. Brace for impact. Brace for impact. Walk away. Backtrack. Erase yourself. Or expect some whiplash from my back-handed pushback. Not resigned yet? Well, persuade yourself. Bridge. You're inches away from a bad collision. Your rendezvous is a suicide mission. Flying it blind, off course, tail spinning. Crash if you don't make the right decision. Chorus 3. Brace for impact. Brace for impact. Here comes a cold hard fist fact to your face. Big mistake you're making 'cause that's my wife you're chasing. Not inclined still? Best persuade yourself.

Will-O'-the-Wisp

By Melanie Thompson

Happy Halloween. This October has had some very scary days. We have mass shootings. We have war. We have in-fighting amongst the populous. Everyone seems to have a bone to pick. When I was little, I enjoyed Halloween. The costumes. The free candy. The decorations. It was fun. This Halloween not so much. Will-o'-the-Wisp is a deceiver. He is an evil that seems to be everywhere. These lyrics unmask him.

Polly Loves Othello

By Melanie Thompson

These lyrics are an adaptation from a play written by Shakespeare. The play is quite long and at times hard to read. So, I gave up and read the cliff notes. I tried to capture the spirit of the tragedy. It is not word for word. And I made a lot of changes. It was that wonderful name he gave to the main character that intrigued me, Othello. What a great name. Also, in writing these lyrics, I thought about how humans recall things. We remember events by experiencing them with our senses. Have you ever smelled something and immediately remembered an event that smelled like that? Roses smell like my high school prom. Vanilla smells like Christmas. Sounds also can send us back in time. Loud bangs put me in a warzone. Lawnmowers remind me of summer. You get the picture. Enjoy.

Easy Peaches

By Melanie Thompson

I love peaches. Nothing better. But there are other life forms that I am certain love them more. I dedicate these lyrics to the lovers of fruit. The ones with two legs and the ones with two wings. The ending is a bit bitter, but Mother Nature brought us into this world, and she can take us out. Enjoy.

I Am the I Am

By Melanie Thompson

I wrote these lyrics with the war occurring now in the middle east in mind. These are my beliefs. They are my own. I did not write them to persuade or offend. Writing is one of my hobbies. And my hobbies comfort me. As I am sure, your hobbies comfort you. They bring me peace. Which is what I wish for us all.
